Yeah man! Queens College in Queens NYC. I was born and raised in Flushing, went to Bayside High-Class 71' Saw Garcia there in 75. I remember the Dead in 70 but didn't go to the show. Saw Neil Young in 70s.Besides Burroughs I saw Ginsberg give a reading in a classroom! and Kesey also gave a reading there. If memory serves this was all in mid to late 70s. I had already moved to CA. by 1980 I actually went to Queensboro but after I graduated from there I took a few courses at Queens. Small world c-Freedom. Are you still in that area? Thanks for the link.

Hey BVD;

Queens 84-93 (which is also like my touring years)
I had a great time, learned a lot and met some really great people. it was a cool place for a commuter school.
"Stoner by day, Homer by night"

It changed a lot during the time I was there for one thing the tuition started becoming a real factor. So it took away some of the laid back feel.
Highlight of my time there was Levon Helm playing out in front of the Student Union.
Also got to talk with Abby Hoffman during his environmentalist period he schooled me pretty good for the brief time we talked.
Our bunch of misfits pretty much took over the outdoor amphitheater for long stretches of time and had some pretty fierce acoustic jams out there with whoever came by.
Once I left N.Y in 95 I have not been back very much. All my family has moved out but I still have a few friends around.
I heard the students finally got it together in the 90's and took over the campus for awhile to protest endless tuition increases.
It is hard to imagine Garcia playing there in 75 because most of my time at Queens the heads were a very small minority of the student body.
Currently living on the West Coast of Florida which is pretty mellow.(I miss the changing seasons but not the ice)
